How long does it take for a corn snake to shed and where would the shed skin be?
I have a corn snake baby that had the blue eyes. It has only been like 2 days since I noticed the blue eyes. He also looked like his skin was just starting to get ready to shed. Now his eyes are no longer blue and I can’t find the shed skin. This is the first time that I have had a snake that has shed so I don’t really know what I am looking for. Any help would be apreciated.
It’s common for the snakes eyes to appear milky, and then not so milky, and then milky again as they prepare to shed their skin. The milky color is caused by the skin lifting off the eye. If the skin settles back down for whatever reason, the milky color will appear to go away. Your snake’s skin will most likely be in plain sight once it has shed. It can also take up to 7 – 10 days for the snake to finally shed after you’ve noticed the hazy appearance on it’s eyes and body. The snake will use decorations to shed off its skin, so the skin will be stuck to or lying beside things like branches, caves, rocks, and even larger pieces of mulch (if you use cypress mulch bedding, etc.). Just wait it out and before long you’ll find your snakes skin, along with a brighter, more vibrant snake.

Ah, my Red Tailed Boa pulled that trick when she shed for me the first time. I noticed the blue eyes and got excited that she was growing and going to shed, but then, her eyes cleared up. I was really confused as my Ball Pythons eyes stay blue until she sheds. THEN about 4 days later, she shed for me at night.
Your corn is going into the last stages of his shed cycle. Make sure to mist his tank daily to help keep his skin moist so you avoid a bad shed. And believe me, you’ll know when he sheds ^^ his skin will be MUCH brighter and he may even be more active. If you have trouble finding it, check underneath the substrate (depending on what you have as a substrate) or underneath the hide box. That’s where all three of my snakes sheds end up. ^^ good luck to you and your corn snake!

Snake start out in the "blue" phase. This is caused by the snake’s thyroid gland that puts off a substance between the old layer of skin and the new layer of skin. This prepares the snake to shed. Then they go in the "clear" phase and back to blue again and finally shed. This can take up to 7 days or so. Different snakes shed differently. You will just find the shed laying around. It could be hooked onto the hide OR I find mine wrapped around their water bowl a lot of times. Hope this helped!
